Source of issue –Anode Weight Check - Diecasting Anodes
Description –
Spot checks and some customers indicated that some Pressure Diecast Anodes were below weight.
The scales are positioned behind the casting machine which was a potential safety hazard as the person weighing anodes could be burnt by either molten zinc or very hot hydraulic fluid. We also have new staff coming and we needed to standardize the weighing procedure.
We decided to formalise the high-pressure casting procedure. The procedure is to be audited in 6 months’ time to ensure it is still fit for purpose.
Immediate action –Move the scales + training for new staff.
Root cause –Potential safety hazard identified + below weight anodes.
Corrective action –
Scales moved and new procedure written to standardise/formalise the process.
Verification –Audit weights of pressure diecast anodes
