Source of issue –Marine Plus Customer
Description –
Jordan Trusty from Marine Plus informed us that a customer of his had cracked 2 x CDZ9-095 while installing.
The implication was that the taper on the anodes we supplied was incorrect. We import these from Technoseal and Metal Distributors, we had both in stock and both had the same angle for the taper.
We believe that either:
1. The customer is using screws which have a different taper angle, which is causing the anode to crack
2. The customer is over tightening the screws.
Significantly, we have never had this issue occur before.
Immediate action –Waiting on feedback from the customer on whether the angle on the taper of the screws he is using is incorrect.
Root cause –
Corrective action –
We are awaiting more info from Marine Plus's customer. This has never happened before and we suspect that the customer is tightening them down too hard or using a screw with a different angle to the countersunk hole.
If we do not hear anything by the end of December 2020, we will close this CAR.
